As the field of UX evolves, and we are presented with new challenges to create a better user experience, strategy becomes important. In order to be successful, we must be thinking of the big picture, and the road ahead.

This presentation describes a successful case study of UX strategy, running over several years and using a full range of UX tools and techniques to improve a section of Medicare.gov-- - nursing home compare, raising the quality of care in nursing homes, across the USA. The strategy included an iterative model that was broken down into 5 phases, which will be covered in this presentation. The case focuses on the development and execution of a user experience strategy for a website hosted on Medicare.com, and a subsequent rating system, displayed on the website.


Meet Elizabeth Rosenzweig



Elizabeth Rosenzweig is founder and Director of World Usability Day, which she started in 2004 after her term as President of Usability Professionals Association was completed. World usability Day has grown to include 44 countries with over 180 events. Elizabeth is a Principal Consultant at the User Experience Center and Adjunct Faculty at the Human Factors in Information Design master degree program at Bentley University. Elizabeth has worked as a consultant and employee in several major corporations for over 30 years. Her experience includes design and development, ranging from website and, applications, to hardware products and technology development.

Elizabeth has completed projects for many major corporations as well as academic institutions. Elizabeth holds 5 patents in intelligent user interface design. Elizabeth frequently publishes in industry journals, has written chapters in 4 published books and presents lectures at conferences around the world. Elizabeth’s book “Successful User Experience: Strategies and Roadmaps” was published by Morgan Kaufman in August 2015. Elizabeth holds a BA in Fine Art Photography and Printing Technologies from Goddard College and a MS in Visual Studies (User Interface Design and Computer Output) from the Media Lab at MIT.

Policies

All registration activities are handled by our volunteers. Please be advised that on the day of the event, we will do our best to manage transfers and late requests, but our primary focus will be on day-of-event logistics.

Regular registration closes at 10:00pm ET on Monday, April 24 -or- whenever seating capacity is reached, whichever occurs first. Tickets can be transferred by sending a request to RSVP@nycuxpa.org up until 48 hours before the event opening. Transfer requests received after this period may not be received or processed. Transferees will please bring the transferer's registration confirmation in printed or digital form as backup.

If the event sells out early, a Wait List may be set up and managed by us on a discretionary basis. We will do our best to keep Wait-Listers informed about the status of available seating, but Wait Listers who haven't heard anything by noon the day of the event can assume there has been no change in status.
