Meet the Officer Candidates 2017-2018

NYC UXPA announces the following nominees for 2017 - 2018 election:

  • President – Rob Kovacs

  • Vice President – Melissa McGrath

  • Treasurer – Elaine Matthias

President

Rob Kovacs

User Experience Designer, Door3

Statement: I've been involved with NYC UXPA as a volunteer since 2013. In addition to helping with monthly events, I've helped to co-ordinate the Mentorship Program for the past three years, and served as Treasurer in 2016-17.

As President I hope to, of course, continue to provide the NYC UX community with informative and engaging monthly events. But as we've seen with the Mentorship Program, there are other ways we can support the community beyond those events. Over the next year, I look forward to working with the community and our volunteer corps to find out how else we can best be of service, and building the organizational infrastructure to make it happen.

Vice President

Melissa McGrath

Master's Student, Freelancer

Statement: I've been a member and volunteer of the NYC UXPA for nearly two years now. This fall, I'll be graduating with my Master's in Information Architecture and Knowledge Management, and I'm always keen to share and experiment with what I've been learning with other UX Designers. I have some big ideas for how to drive continued and increasing engagement within the NYC UXPA community that I'd love to collaborate on. While working to continue to deliver the same caliber of educational and inspiring events, I'd like to see the NYC chapter of the UXPA expand into new roles. I'm specifically excited about how we might work together to elevate the profession as a whole, and whether that means adopting standards and definitions, investing more seriously in educating and training new UX professionals, strengthening our relationship to the broader international UXPA community and related professional organizations, and/or something else entirely, I'm interested to find out.
Also: I'm into board games, have a newly acquired love for seltzer, and live with my boyfriend and our blended cat family in Yonkers.
