    Leveling Up with Design Ops

Design organizations have been maturing dramatically and quickly over the last few years. We have been honing our processes that we know make us better designers. We are still hitting limits. Those limits are due to operational elements in our organization. Team structure, communications methods and tools, workflow systems, team recruitment and development are the new areas that need the same focus. Organizations that are leveling up are creating roles and giving intentional attention to Operationalizing design. Through this panel, we're going to look at examples of design operations and how they help organizations deliver better value for the people they serve.

    Our Panel

Dave Malouf (@daveixd) is the Director of Product Design at DigitalOcean, an IT Infrastructure organization focused on the needs of developers. Dave's current focus as a design leader is to help organizations and teams to remove the impediments so that design teams can reach their potential value for the organizations that invest in them so that people get the very best solutions from those organizations.

Adekunle Oduye (@adekunleoduye) is a Product Designer at Justworks where he is building HR tools for small businesses. In addition, he is a co-organizer for SassConf, a national front-end development conference and GothamSass Meetup, a local NYC meetup that serves front-end developers and designers. When he isn't writing code or designing, you can probably find him planning his next travel adventures or learning more about personal finance.

Tomer Sharon (@tsharon) is VP, Head of UX at WeWork in New York City leading a team that designs work and living spaces, communities, and services around the world. Formerly Sr. UX Researcher at Google Search, Tomer is the author of, Validating Product Ideas (2016) and, It’s Our Research (2012). He founded and led UXPA Israel and has been preaching and teaching UX at Google’s LaunchPad program, a bootcamp for early-stage startups around the world, in conferences, and at Treehouse. Tomer holds a master’s degree in Human Factors in Information Design from Bentley University in Waltham, MA. He is @tsharon on Twitter and Instagram.

Angela Yeh (@YehID) has been working and speaking for over 20 years in the design recruitment space. She taught career strategies at Parsons The New School for Design and has lectured at numerous engagements, including: IDSA National and District Conferences & Webinars, Design Management Institute Annual Conferences, Lextant Design Forty Webinars, and numerous universities. She chaired the NYC chapter of the IDSA 2004-2005 and sat on the IDSA Board of Directors as the Northeast District Vice President. Angela holds a BA in psychology from the University of Bridgeport, and honed her keen eye for design at Pratt Institute’s Master's program in Industrial Design.

    Our Moderator

Jessica Greco (@grecasaurus) is a Senior Interaction Designer at Idean, leading a team that partners with enterprise clients to tie insights into action and fundamentally transform businesses so they can deliver more value to customers. Previously she led design and research at Pager, an early stage healthcare startup, and has nearly a decade of experience working on for consumer and enterprise products in finance, healthcare, education, and media. She’s an active member of the IxDA community and is always happy to chat about design education.
