We are all aware that UX is a diverse field. No two UX professionals come from the same background. But how about building a successful, meaningful career? What are some ways to lead, and grow as a UX professional?

This month, we invite you to take a peek at the journeys of two UX leaders / entrepreneurs -- what were their decision processes like at some of the critical moments in their career paths? How did they develop the leadership skills they needed to be truly autonomous? How do they currently foster entrepreneurial spirit in their staff? They will give their narratives, as well as answering the audience's burning questions.

UX Growth: Lessons From An Entrepreneur

Mona Patel (Bio)

In this talk, Mona Patel, CEO & Founder of Motivate Design, will inspire you to build a stronger connection between your management skills and your user experience know-how. Through lessons learned as an entrepreneur building a UX research, design, and staffing shop, as well as, lessons from her time out in the field, Mona will highlight what she's seen as the catalyst for success amongst teams.

John Payne (Bio)

John Payne is Managing Director at Moment, a digital strategy and design consultancy he co-founded in 2002. With over twenty-five years of experience as a design consultant and educator, he brings deep expertise in design methodologies and user-centered innovation techniques to Moment clients like Bloomberg, ESPN, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, The Weather Channel and American Express. In 2017, John will co-chair Interaction 17, IxDA’s 10th annual global design conference.

All registration activities are handled by our volunteers. Please be advised that on the day of the event, we will do our best to manage transfers and late requests, but our primary focus will be on day-of-event logistics.

Regular registration closes at 10pm ET the day before the event -or- whenever seating capacity is reached, whichever occurs first.

Tickets are transferable up to 11AM the day of the event by sending a request to Transferees will please bring the transferer's registration confirmation in printed or digital form as backup. Transfer requests received after 11AM may not be received or processed.

If the event sells out early, a Wait List may be set up and managed by us on a discretionary basis. We will do our best to keep Wait-Listers informed about the status of available seating, but Wait Listers who haven't heard anything by noon the day of the event can assume there has been no change in status.

Attendees are asked to use our website to sign up for our events. NYC UXPA cannot register attendees in response to email requests.
